We left Carla and Lisa in a good place on Monday, having cleared the air after Lisa’s emotional proposal last Friday. Today’s episode kicked off with Lisa in the cafe, sneezing over everything, and speaking to Kit about Brody.
A little while later, we saw Lisa coming out of the cafe, and Carla walking away from Underworld, causing them to meet on the corner outside number 6, what we believe to be their new home in coming weeks. Carla noted that Lisa was still sneezing, and when she admitted she was now on her third packet of tissues, Carla encouraged her to head home and be looked after for once.
Lisa relented and agreed to go home, and Carla reached out her hand, but Lisa’s sneezes kicked in again prompting Carla to hilariously avoid the germs. Sensible, considering she’ll be on immunosuppressive medication after her kidney transplant, but I think we were all gutted to have their first public hand hold ripped away from us.
Side note: Thanks to an interview with Charlotte Tutton from The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, Vicky Myers revealed her sneezes were the result of several years trying to get out of school!
Back at the flat, Lisa was scrolling through the TV channels and Carla was cleaning in the kitchen. Note the incredible rubber gloves! After even more sneezing from Lisa, her girlfriend not-so-subtly came over and took the remote from her, giving it a good clean. She told Lisa it had more bacteria on it than a toilet seat, and we got the brilliant line of ‘Why? What have you been doing with it?’ from Lisa.
We then saw Lisa receive a phone call, which prompted her to head round to Kit’s flat.
After telling him that Mick had been beaten up in prison, it dawned on Lisa that it was Kit’s doing. She warned Kit that the police were going to find out, but will she be the one to tell them?
Lisa then retuned to the flat, where Carla asked her if going to see Kit was more important than her health. Lisa revealed that the attack on Mick was an inside job, and that Kit had admitted to arranging the beating. Lisa’s always been a ‘by the book’ copper, so it’s unusual to see her sharing work information with her girlfriend. Is it because she’s sick? Or is this her opening up to Carla a little more?
Carla wondered why Lisa hadn’t gone to her boss about Kit’s confession, and said he had thrown her under the bus with the Joel murder case, which he had. Lisa left the room, telling Carla she was going to bed, which was what her girlfriend had been wanting all day. Oof.
We get a break next week, yay sleep! Who am I kidding? I’ve hardly slept since 7th October. See you on 9th June for what promises to be an incredible week.
