Today’s episode picked up the morning after the party at No.7 Coronation Street, with Brian flagging down Carla to let her know he had seen Aadi leading Lauren away from the factory the night before. I loved Carla’s use of the word ‘we’ when referring to having a hungover teenager to deal with that morning.

Carla was confused about why Lauren would be by the factory, and Lisa reminded her that Brian seeing them doesn’t necessarily mean she was involved. Carla encouraged her girlfriend to get Betsy‘s greasy breakfast sorted, and she would meet her back at the flat, but Lisa didn’t think it was a good idea for her to go kicking off at the kids. Undeterred, Carla headed off to speak to Aadi.

Inside No.7, neither Aadi or Asha were willing to talk about what had happened, and Aadi denied finding anyone when they searched the factory the previous night. Bernie stepped in and suggested speaking to Lauren before accusing Aadi of being involved, and as Asha handed Carla a drink, an incredibly rough looking Lauren appeared, and promptly fainted.

At the hospital, Asha updated Carla and Aadi on Lauren’s condition, explaining she had broken a rib which had caused a ruptured spleen. She was going to be kept in for a while, but would be okay.
Carla went in to visit the young mum, who was clearly confused about why the factory owner was there when she hardly knew her. Lauren explained how she’d only had a few drinks, but had seen Joel, a dead man. It didn’t take long for Carla to realise Lauren’s drink may have been spiked, having gone through a similar experience when Stephen Reid was drugging her with LSD in order to try and take over the factory.

Carla then headed to the police station, and we saw her in Lisa’s office clutching a visitors pass. Last time we saw her here, she’d spun a line to the front desk about her being Betsy’s boss and there being an emergency. I wonder if she has to come up with an excuse now, or if she can pop back to see her girlfriend whenever she likes?
Carla wanted to help Lauren realise she wasn’t going round the bend, and after twiddling with Lisa’s hair (which seems to be a common occurrence), the Detective Sergeant agreed to run a drugs test if Lauren would agree to provide a sample.

Back in Lauren’s hospital room, Carla offered Lauren the opportunity to have a drugs test, to which she agreed, wanting to know what happened to her. When Carla gave her a sample pot, she told her to bring grapes next time. I think this is the start of the Connor-Swain family keeping an eye on Lauren and Frankie, after all, Carla does tend to collect people that need looking after.

Lisa then caught up with Kit back on the street, and told him Carla was adamant they would find drugs in Lauren’s system. As she’s currently on desk duty, she is still his superior, and ordered him to speak to the teens involved to find out more about what happened at the party. Looks like he listened to his boss for once, as he headed off to speak to Aadi and Amy.
