I’m writing this recap four days after the episode aired, and I can honestly say I’m still not over it!
It wasn’t until we got last week’s video spoilers on Saturday night that we knew Carla and Lisa were going to be at the Drag Night, and boy was it incredible.

Firstly, we saw Lisa looking at a flyer for the evening, and she told Carla she really wasn’t in the mood. Carla responded with, and I quote, ‘get your sexy bum in the shower… now’, before Lisa told her she appreciated her girlfriend being her cheerleader, which led to a comment from Carla about getting her pom poms out. We’ve since learnt this line was written by the incredible Damon Alexis-Rochefort, the man behind ‘don’t get dressed’.

A little later, a very happy Carla and Lisa arrived at The Rovers, which was heaving with locals for the Drag Night that Glenda had organised. After commenting on how fabulous the place looked, how they fit in well because they looked fabulous too, they headed to the bar to order some drinks. Lisa on the wine, and Carla clearly protecting her new kidney by sticking to the orange juice.

We saw some incredibly special moments between the pair during the evening. Carla not wanting to put a label on herself when the Drag Queen asked if there were any lesbians in the house, taking a fake shot (which we’ve since learnt from writer Damon was improvised by Alison King), and teasing Lisa about getting up to sing. We also saw Asha drag Carla up to dance, who in turn forced Lisa to join them and let her hair down. It was such a happy, wholesome evening, something we’d been needing to see for a long time.

As the episode drew to a close, we saw the couple back at the flat, ending their night with a cuddle on the couch. There was clearly something on Lisa’s mind, and Carla pushed a little for her to open up. She revealed that she wasn’t going to put up a fight around therapy any more, and if it’s what it took to allow her to get back to the job she loves, then she was prepared to do it. And perhaps it would do her some good. Carla told her she was proud of her, and that this was the start of her being able to move on with her life after everything that had happened over the last few years.
It looks like Lisa had such a good night, she wants more of that happiness, and she’s committed to making that happen.
