After the emotional rollercoaster of the last episode, which I am still not over and never will be over by the way, today’s episode was a short and sweet look into life at the flat as Betsy returns home.

Carla and Lisa, united again after mini-Swain talked some sense in to her mum, brought her home from the hospital. Betsy, clearly still fuming at her mother’s actions, wanted nothing but to go to her room. Side note here, how lovely it was to hear Betsy refer to it as her room, she didn’t say she wanted to lay down, or go to bed, she’s fully at home in Carla’s flat. Lisa was still visibly deflated at her daughter practically ignoring her, and Carla provided a comforting hand (or two)… where have I heard that line before?

Later, Nina paid Betsy a visit to see how she was getting on back home. Betsy couldn’t help but open up about how her mum was thinking about Carla, not her, when she went into No.1 Coronation Street unarmed the week before. Nina provided some words of wisdom, and reassured Betsy that Lisa would do the same thing for anyone that she loved, and that the connection she has found with Carla is actually something amazing.

Carla and Lisa then arrived home with a takeaway, Carla mentioning something about Lisa stealing popadoms (girl after my own heart, they’re the best), and we saw Nina and Betsy grinning away like a couple of naughty school children. This is a friendship I would love to see develop. They have so much in common, Nina lost her dad, Betsy her mum, they’ve both lost boyfriends due to teenage violence, and I think they could be good company for each other.

Once Nina left, Betsy apologised to Carla for acting like a child about everything that had happened, and then to her mum, acknowledging that she didn’t mean to shoot her. As their scenes ended, we saw Lisa giving her daughter a hug.

Cuddles is something Carla is bringing out in the Swain girls, as Betsy said months ago it was her ‘other mum’ who was the touchy feely kind, so it’s lovely to see Carla’s affections rubbing off on the two of them.

Our next recap (that we know of) will be Friday 11th April, as that’s the first mention of either or Carla or Lisa in the episode guides. That doesn’t mean to say they’re not going to appear before then, so we’ll have to wait for cast list announcements.
