Today’s episode was the start of Craig Tinker’s final week on the cobbles, after the news a few months back that actor Colson Smith would be leaving the soap.
Craig was eager to start his first shift shadowing D.C. Kit Green, and showed up to the station in a dapper outfit, and as Kit was trying to tell him that the most important part of the job is listening, he cut him off to tell D.S. Swain it was Kit’s birthday as she walked into the room. Lisa reminded Kit not to get himself into trouble, and the three officers went about their day.

Back on the cobbles, Betsy ran in to Brody outside the corner shop, literally, causing her drink to go everywhere. Brody offered her some unsolicited advice, and she walked off.
After Kit had kicked off and told Craig that he would never make a Detective Constable, P.C. Tinker returned to the station and dropped a birthday card onto his mentors desk. Lisa arrived and Craig told her that the shadowing hadn’t worked out. After revealing what Kit said to him, Lisa encouraged him to get himself back out there, in uniform, and prove that he’s a fantastic police officer. So off Craig went, back out on the streets.

Brody caught up with Betsy again, tempting her with a bottle of vodka he stole from the shop, and whilst past Besty would have dropped everything to go and get drunk in the park, this Betsy didn’t. She actually ended up calling in the theft to the station, where Lisa was awaiting the drunk teen’s arrival, much to Kit’s disgust.

Sean and Gemma then arrived at the police station, with Sean wanting to change his statement regarding an assault he experienced a while back, and to tell the truth about Mick being the one who did it. Lisa took him in for questioning, but not before declining a call from Craig, who ended up leaving her a voicemail to thank her for the advice she had given him.

We then saw Lisa interview Sean at the station, and Craig take a fatal blow to the head thanks to Mick and a baseball bat!
