It’s been a few weeks since we saw DS Swain on screen, but she was back with a bang in Friday’s episode.
The Connor-Swain family’s day started with a trip to the cafe, where they bumped into Tracy, prompting Betsy to ask if they could go somewhere else (this phrase takes me back to the pub scene on 30th September 2024 for obvious reasons!). Betsy lashed out at Tracy for being partly responsible for her injury, and also had a dig at Carla for her gun-weilding sibling Rob.
We later saw Betsy sat at the bus stop, eyeing up Tracy’s flower delivery van. When the coast was clear, she destroyed some flowers, popped some balloons, and had Lauren try and intervene. Tracy re-appeared, prompting the troublesome two to make a getaway with the van, eventually crashing it into a skip at the Weatherfield precinct.
We finally got to see DS Swain visiting her girlfriend at work for a cuppa, the first time they had been seen in the factory together since the day Carla announced to her staff that they were a couple, way back in December. It’s been a wild ride since then, right? Anyway, Lisa’s work phone rang and Carla told her to take the call before giving her a very sultry look. Lisa told her Betsy had been arrested for stealing a van, and headed off to join her for the police interview.
At the station, Betsy initially answered ‘no comment’ before Lisa stepped in telling her she was being ridiculous. She eventually admitted to stealing the van, to get back at Tracy for helping Rob, but left Lauren’s name out of it for fear of her losing baby Frankie. Back at the flat, Lisa launched into a tirade about how Betsy had never driven a car, couldn’t tie her shoes that morning but somehow managed to steal a van, and how she couldn’t break the law just for revenge. Betsy eventually broke down about how she’s sick of not being able to do anything because of her arm.
Tracy called by a bit later and accused Lisa of being too lenient with her daughter, before Lisa threatened to arrest her if she didn’t leave. She then sent Betsy to her room, but we later saw the teen visiting Lauren at the kebab shop, letting her know she kept quiet about her involvement.
According to the episode guides, Carla, Lisa and Betsy are mentioned in all three episodes next week. See you for ‘thick shag’ on Wednesday… and if you don’t get that reference, check out our social channels 😉Â
