We last saw Carla and Lisa on 10th July, with Lisa decompressing from her first therapy session. She’d made progress, right at the very end of the session, and then Debbie Webster had invited them to withdraw the offer on the house she wanted to buy.

Today’s episode opened with Carla and Lisa arriving back on the cobbles after a run, and bumping in to Alya outside number 6 Coronation Street. It turned out that Debbie had made a ridiculously high offer, £30k above theirs, to try and get the property.
As they were standing chatting to Alya, a masked robber ran out of the corner shop, with Aadi and Alya both shouting at Lisa to do something. But she froze. Carla’s concerned calls of ‘babe’ failed to bring her out of her reverie, and the robber got away.

Back at the flat, Lisa assured Carla that she was okay, and that she hadn’t gone after the robber because she was off duty. She encouraged Carla to go to work, but not before telling her partner that she relied on her for hugs and red wine, not psychoanalysis.
Later, we saw Debbie run across the road to avoid Carla, and Ryan stepping in to help convince Debbie that her high offer on the house was a mistake.

When Carla returned home, Lisa was spaced out and promptly broke down, offering us a beautiful parallel of the dressing gown hug from December’s spa trip episode, just a little more on the sad side this time. She opened up to Carla about how she had always been one to run towards danger, not away from it, and that her colleagues rely on each other in those situations. If she can’t get herself back to how she was, she may not be ready to get back out as a Detective Sergeant. Carla told her she was being too hard on herself.

We then saw them sat at the dinner table, Carla enthusiastically eating the beans on toast that she’d cooked, and Lisa pushing them around her plate. Lisa brought up how she’s struggling to come to terms with the fact she might not have known her late wife as well as she thought, and Carla told her to stop overthinking or she’d drive herself mad. Lisa announced she was going for a bath, and seemed dismissive and uninterested when Carla received a message to say Debbie had pulled out of the house, and Number 6 was theirs.

In The Rovers, Carla went over to offer Debbie a viewing of her flat, before telling Ryan that she wasn’t going to sit back and let the woman she loves fall apart. What is she going to get up to?
