Less than 4.5 minutes of screen time for Carla, Lisa and Betsy in today’s episode, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t get some fantastic scenes!
The episode opened with Carla and Lisa having breakfast in the flat, chatting about how the last few weeks has gone from Carla having a kidney transplant to Rob stealing a gun from Mandy’s flat. Lisa told Carla to keep her voice down as she didn’t want to scare Betsy, especially since she’d turned a corner after her conversation with Nina in yesterday’s episode.

Lisa got an alert from work to say the police were looking through the evidence from Mandy’s place in the hope they would find something that could help them track down Rob, and she reassures Carla they will find him. Oh, and Lisa called Carla ‘love’ not once, but twice, in this opening scene.
Later on in the episode, Carla comes home from work at lunch time to Lisa working away on her laptop. She’s taken to working from home more often now, since Betsy has been scared to leave the flat. Carla tried to prise information on the search for Rob out of her girlfriend, who admitted she had told her more than she should already.

Carla started to panic about the state her brother could be in, remarking that he wouldn’t last much longer without medical help. Lisa reminded her that he had a gun, and Betsy walked in on the conversation, overhearing the information Lisa was trying to keep from her. A mother-daughter chat followed, with Lisa reassuring Betsy that she wouldn’t let Rob harm her.
Lisa then got called to the station, where a colleague ran her through CCTV footage of Rob at a ferry port. Whilst there was no proof he actually got on the ferry, Lisa went home confident that he had fled the country.

Back at the flat, it was family pizza night to celebrate ‘a murderer hopping on a boat’ as Betsy so eloquently put it. We saw Carla picking pieces of pineapple off her pizza and putting them on Lisa’s plate. They’ve officially reached that stage of their relationship! Lisa claimed that pineapple is the best part of the pizza, Carla reckoned it was a crime against humanity. Personally, I’m team Lisa when it comes to pineapple on pizza. It’s the best bit!

The scene finished up with a little bit of humour (something I’m hoping we get more of in the coming months, especially with the rumour of Swarla moving into No. 6 Coronation Street, can you imagine the comedy we would get with Sally the ally living next door?), when Betsy asked for a beer. Carla told her they were in the fridge as the exact time Lisa told her no. Carla backtracked of course, but Betsy’s look told us that she knows she has Carla wrapped around her little finger. Bring on more of the step-mum/daughter relationship.
Our next recap will be Tuesday 25th March, hostage week is almost here Swarla nation! EEK!
